Greetings RCRC Jr. Crew Parents!
For those of you new to the world of rowing: Welcome!
Although there's a lot to learn about this exciting sport, we think you'll find being a crew parent rewarding, inspiring and fun. Veteran RCRC Jr. Crew parents are eager to help you become aquainted with the sport and rowing community and look forward to your involvement.
For returning parents, welcome back, and get ready for another fabulous year of rowing, camaraderie and fun for your kids.
Parent Booster Club
The success of our club relies on the cooperation and partnership of the coaches, RCRC members, athletes, and Parents. Parents and Guardians are instrumental in helping to create a positive and rewarding experience for the RCRC Juniors. There are many facets to allow for training and racing for these young men and women and your involvement is welcomed, and necessary for success. All parents of Junior Crew are automatically members of the Booster Club. The Booster Club serves as support to the coaches and team members and is a great way to learn about the sport and actively support your son or daughter’s athletics. Besides, it’s usually a lot of fun as well as a great way to meet other parents and become part of the “RCRC Team”.
Aside from cheering on your rower or coxswain we need help in many areas.
Some of the roles that parents can fill are:
- Newsletter – one parent that can put together a monthly newsletter for the RCRC club, alumni and parents
- Media Liason – one parent that can summarize race results and submit to local papers (Davis Enterprise, West Sac Ledger, etc.)
- Banquet – parent(s) that can organize location, set-up/tear-down for the end-of-year banquet
- Ergothon – parent(s) that can help with organizing letter writing, collecting donations, and day of the event
- Fundraising, Candy Sales
- Food Table – many parents to fill the needs of feeding the athletes at regattas
- Chaperones – a few races require chaperones. Those invitations are given to the parents of the selected athletes
- Carpool – to and from the port/practice, and regattas
- Boathouse Safety – parent(s) who will be at the boathouse during practice time that can monitor athletes left on land.
